Salt continued their dominance and they also started capitalizing middle overs both playing very well and mostly at 200+ strike-rate, till the 11th over. Because in the 11th over R. After Narine’s wicket, P.Salt continued playing his shots but he also got out after hitting two consecutive sixes in the 13th over by PBKS’s Captain S. After completion of their 20 overs, KKR made their highest score on Eden Gardens and it’s 261, as they set a 262 target for PBKS.

As PBKS knows they have to make history to chase this run rate and to do that they know they have to capitalize their first 6 overs. They exactly do that as Prabhsimran Singh scored his fifty in the fifth over in just 18 deliveries. Just after his fifty, he got run out in the 6th over and he scored 54 runs in just 20 balls with the strike-rate of 270. Punjab Kings lost their crucial wicket but he gave a blasting start to Punjab Kings as they were at 93 runs with the loss of 1 wicket in the powerplay. This was the highest score by PBKS in the powerplay.

AFTER POWERPLAY

 

After capitalizing on their powerplay they knew that they had to continue this hitting if they had to chase the target and they also started capitalizing their middle overs too. Jonny Bairstow was hitting effortless sixes and fours and he also completed his fifty in the 9th over with a fabulous six on extra cover. But in the 13th over S.Narine took R. Rossouw’s wicket on the score of 178.

Young Shashank Singh came in the place of R. Rossouw and both batters started smashing KKR’s bowler as they completed their 200 in just 15 overs. In the 16th over J. Bairstow completed his CENTURY in just 45 balls with a strike rate of 222.

Shashank was in a different mood and he smashed the ball in a more blistering way he also competed for his half-century in just 23. They both made the impossible thing possible that day in Eden Gardens. They created history aster chasing 262 in 18.4 overs and there were 8 balls also left to deliver. J.Bairstow and Shashank Singh were not out on 108 (48), and 68 (28) respectively. But what a night they both made for PBKS that day. The unbelievable thing happened there.
