First Innings

POWERPLAY

In this game, the Gujarat Titans won the toss and elected to field first. This was a wise decision for Gujarat as they had already removed three Delhi Capitals players during the powerplay. This was made possible by Sandeep Warrier, who took three wickets last night, all of which came during the powerplay. He also put Delhi Capitals on the defensive as he removed three of their batsmen, J. Fraser-McGurk (23), P. Shaw (11), and S. Hope (05).

AFTER POWERPLAY

However, following the powerplay, Axar Patel and Captain Rishabh Pant of DC formed a fantastic relationship that lasted till the 17th. But after that, Noor Ahmed sent Axar Patel to the pavilion after his incredible fifty, as he scored 66 runs in just 43 balls to bring the DC back into the game. Following this wicket, the DC captain formed a second partnership of 67 with the young South African player, Tristian Stubbs, and they both took the score to 224 with four wickets lost, but they really capitalized on their slog over, and in the end, the captain of Delhi Rishabh Pant was not out, scoring a massive 88 runs in just 43 balls at a strike rate of 204. Tristan Stubbs also made a small but significant contribution for DC, scoring 26 runs in just 7 balls.

SECOND INNINGS

POWERPLAY

When Gujarat Taitans came to bat in the second innings of the game, they sent their skipper Shubhman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha as their opening batsmen. However, their opening stand was short-lived as they lost their leader Shubhman Gill early on, as he scored just six runs in five deliveries. However, after that, Wriddhiman Saha and Sai Sudharsan carried their innings forward, scoring 67 with the loss of just one wicket.

AFTER POWERPLAY

Following their strong start, they both performed admirably until the tenth over when W. Saha was removed after making a solid 39 off of just 25 balls. But A. Omarzai, who had come to bat in place of W. Saha, was also removed in the very next over. And DC returned to the game with two quick wickets in two overs. Sai’s innings continued until the 13th over when Rasikh Salam dismissed him for 65 runs in just 35 balls.

Following that, DC took two quick wickets from S. Khan and R. Tewatia, who both made 8 (5) and 4 (5) respectively. At that point, the other end D. Miller looked set as he was hitting every bowler and reached his fifty in 20 balls. His half-century creased their chances of winning until the 18th over when Mukesh Kumar removed Dravid Miller in the 17.3 over. Rashid Khan was trying to end the game alongside Sai Kishore after reaching 55 in just 23 balls. They ultimately failed to cross the finish line as they both scored 21 (11) and 13 (6), respectively.
